The END of Wedding season.....The BEGINNING of Fall

Hello, hello from everyone at the Hempstead Homestead. Decided to post an older picture of Hope & I for a change. It was taken at Fado in Atlanta, one of the greatest pubs I have ever been to. Its been a busy last two weeks. I cant get enough of this weather. Fall is definately my favorite season, wish it could be 60 degrees year round. Love playing golf during the Fall as well, Hope has noticed that the past 2 years now, sorry babe. Only have a few more weeks to get as much golf in as I can then the clubs will be put away for the winter. Its always a sad day when that happens. Speaking of sad things lets just get this over with and mention that the ISU Cyclones football team is garbage. I know in my last post I was talking them up, but there is nothing positive going for this team. Im a die hard fan and will continue to watch & cheer for them, but I dont see another victory on our schedule. Sorry boys this guy is ready for Cyclone Wrestling to start. Already got my table reserved at Dublin Bay on Thursday Nov 11th for dinner and drinks after the 1st meet. I know its going to be a rebuilding year, but Hope and I are really looking forward to attending the meets with Barbie.

Big THANKS to Abby for sending us our "Emily" stickers. Love them. They would make a great tattoo, right?! We are still praying for all our family members esp. Greg, Josh, Rachel & Abby. There isnt a day I dont think about Em and Gayle. Hoping to get up North and see everyone soon.
Two weeks ago Marc's gf Ellie opened up her salon in Des Moines. Bombshell Hair Design had their doors open during Martinifest, so you know it was a great time. I made the trip down that Friday for a few hours. It was great to meet the girls Ellie works with and to hang out with Marc. A great buddy of mine, Chris Cullen, stopped out for a few drinks as well. For some reason my mom has always called Chris "Scott", now its an ongoing joke. The food and drink were outstanding and I knew it would be since Dawn (Ellie's mom) is one of the greatest cooks in all the land. Thanks again for the invite El!!! That next morning I got to take part in pouring concrete for Mr. Dentlinger. Jeff is working on remodeling his parents old hog barn into a shop where he can work on his car and store things. I have a good feeling we will be using it more for cards, drinking & story telling, but I could be wrong. The food at this event was just as good as the night before thanks to the lovely Lois Dentlinger. Dent your mom makes a mean ham sandwich & the homemade cinnamon rolls were delicious.

Making big decisions as a group, more like life altering decisions. A few of my friends and I have decided to jump back on the wagon - THE "X" WAGON. Johnny 'Drama' Larson, Dane Odden, Patrick Hall and I have all tried to accomplish P90X once around and failed. The other week we decided that if we all try to it again as a group we should be able to push eachother. So far we have been committing to Tony, but have been complaining about the pain & being sore everyday. I hope that I am still doing the P90X workouts next time I post a blog. Wish me luck.
This past weekend Hope and I attending the wedding of my great friend Cory Wiederin. I was privledged enough to be a groomsmen. It was a great time. The groomsmen all meshed well, the beer might have helped with that. Below are some great pics from the night. Starting with Terry 'Denard' Wurzer drinking a Joose. For those of you that dont know my good friend Terry hates beer, always has to drink mixed drinks. They only served beer at the dinner on Friday night, so Terry picked up a Joose at the local convenience store. Looks sweet TDub.
Picture of the groomsmen at The Clipper after the ceremony.
My Justin Beiber look alike - Keagan and I tore up the dance floor all night. The kid is fearless.
A quick photo of Mr & Mrs Wiederin during dinner.
End of the night picture with Mary Wiederin - one of the greatest moms in the world. Thanks for the great party Mary.

The morning after the wedding Terry and I had to get on the road early to make it back to Carroll for the 'Chili Open' at the Carroll Country Club. It was a 4man scramble event. Our team consisted of us 2 plus Nick Knute and Eric Buntenbach. We ended up shooting 57, but lost by 1 storke to the Franeys and Sinards. They supplied us chili and sandwiches for lunch and we came out $5 ahead for the day. Cant go wrong there. I am working on putting together a squad for one last tournament this year at Ames Golf & Country Club on Oct 31st.
The DOC5 is roughly 7 months away. Havent had any new ideas to research or anything. PHall secured the date and some tee times at the Harvester earlier this month, I have just forgot what day he picked.
The next 2 weeks Hope and I will be laying low. We cant wait for our first Halloween of handing out candy. Maybe I will have to pull out the NERDS costume again. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Ames for the ISU/Nebraska game in November.

Greatest cafe in Western Iowa

Stopped in at Mac's Cafe for a coffee. Man that place has some great beverages. I recommend it to everyone. They also have amazing breakfast sandwiches (like the one pictured). Anytime you are passing through Carroll you need to stop in. Hey give me a call, I'm always up for hitting up the Cafe. Actually if anyone is around on Friday mornings, Barbie & I meet there at 7:30am - rain or shine.

I am testing out a new Droid app on my phone so I posted this whole thing from my Samsung Fascinate. Is there anything this phone can't do.

Big plans this weekend so I will have lots to blog about next.

See you all in time.

We're Back......

I know everyone has been wondering where Hope & I have been the past month. Let me tell you it has been one fun, crazy, busy, sad few weeks since we last updated the blog. Sorry it has taken so long, but our crazy celebrity life style should be slowing down soon, well we hope it starts to any ways. Wow I dont even know where to start since so much has went on since Hope's bday (our last post) but I think I will fill everyone in on how the married life is going because that is the first question most ppl ask when they see us. It is going great actually. Hope and I have lived together for a year now, so not much really changed with the living arrangements but we are both having a great time together. Lets see we have done some house remodeling, well Darrell (Hope's Dad) has done some remodeling. We are in the process of repainting the basement bathroom. Hope is deciding on the color then we should have it finished in a day or two. Darrell put up new shelves in the living room, I dont think he trusts me with power tools yet. Darrell & I pulled A LOT of cables down from our basement ceiling and now I am still working on putting a tv up in front of our treadmill, but Marc hasnt brought me the tv yet. Hope started pulling out the Fall decorations yesterday. Kerry brought over some pumpkins for the front of the house and we decided to tie some corn stalks around the light pole. Took a short trip over to Arcadia to see Mox & Norma. Man Mox has about 2 if not 3 of everything in his garage. We ended up leaving with 6 corn stalks (the thing we went out there for) and Mox gives me a tool to hook on the hose to clean my gutters, a hedge trimmer, and a hatchet. Cant wait to sharpen up my hatchet!! The other weekend Hope and I took a trip to Ames with Darrell and Kerry. The girls wanted to go shopping and I was getting us new cell phones. We had a great time. Took Darrell to Jimmy Johns for the 1st time and now he is hooked, but he has trouble remembering the name of the place, but he knows that the sandwiches are phenomenal. After our trip to Ames Hope has started to feel better. For ppl that didnt know, Hope was sick for a few weeks. She has had a few instances of rapid heart rate which then would make her dizzy. We took a few trips to the hospital to figure out what was going on and it all turned out to be nothing serious. Was a little funny when they hooked her up to a heart monitor for 24 hours because the monitor looked like a beeper. I really felt bad because our house is not beeper friendly. I had to get rid of mine because I could never get a sig on my beep. Any who....next on our agenda is ISU sporting events (football & wrestling). We havent made it to a football game yet, but are determined to get to a few. We did order season ISU Wrestling tickets, thank you brother Cory for paying for them (they are our wedding gift). Super pumped to be teaming up with the Stevens (Fuzz & Janelle) for all the home meets this year. Lots of Sunday FUNDAYs at Dublin Bay.
This past week the Hempstead Family & this world lost a great person. My Aunt Gayle lost her battle with cancer last Wednesday. Gayle was a character. She was my Dad's only sister and the best Aunt a kid could ask for. It was always difficult for the Waylanders and Hempsteads to get together due to the traveling distance, but when we did we sure made the most of it. Now I may not remember all the stories and great times we had but I will mostly definitely NEVER forget Gayle's laugh and her whistle. Man could she whistle loud. You knew when it was time to get home when you heard that. I want to say thank you to all the family members & friends that made the trip to Montevideo this past weekend. I know Greg, Josh, Rachel & Abby appreciated it.
Everyone is probably wondering why me of all ppl have not spoke on the Ryder Cup. I really dont have much to say. It is by far my favorite tournament to watch. It just edges out The Masters in my book. Nothing better than 3 days (4 this year) of intense golf fueled by the pride for one's country. The USA and European teams were both stacked with talent. Everyone had the Europeans as the favorite and were counting out the Americas early, but as you could tell from the finish today it came down the final singles match. The Ryder Cup was won by the Europeans 15-13. In 2 years the Ryder Cup will be played at Medinah in Illinois, if anyone wants to contribute to my Ryder Cup savings fund I accept cash, checks and all major credit cards. Photos are from final day of Ryder Cup & Ryder Cup website.
Now on to some football - How about those CYCLONES!?!?!? And yes I am only talking about the past 2 games hahaha. The defense played well against UNI with 2 pick 6's and not allow the Panthers to reach the endzone all game. Tiller played outstanding. I did not get to watch any of the ISU-Texas Tech game because my family wanted to watch Iowa-Penn State. Boy that game was about as exciting as watching paint dry. Great you are ranked and beat a ranked opponent, but at least make the game fun to watch. It was a shoot out at Jack Trice. I mean our football team scored as many points as our basketball team averaged last year. We had a kid run back an onside kick, I havent seen that since back in the day when I used to score like that when I played Super Techmo Bowl against Cory on Nintendo. Not really looking forward to the next 3 games on teh schedule of the Clones, but hey if there is a year to beat Texas it would probably be this year. (photo above is from Iowa State website http://www.cyclones.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=48323&SPID=4653&ATCLID=205005132&DB_OEM_ID=10700)
I know that I have had the emotion of this post go from happy to sad to happy to sad so lets end with something that makes me and all my friends smile - The Dane Odden Classic!! I wanted to be able to post how many days are left until the DOC5 but I havent received confirmation from PHall on when we reserved The Harvester. Either way the event will be played on a Saturday in May 2011. Its going to be a great event again this year. Hoping to top the amount of participates from 2010. I truely love to plan this outing, as much as it doesnt give me a headache it is all worth it in the end. Cant wait to show the guys what I have been working on and what I have up my sleeve. Also the polos for the DOC5 will be some combination of the follow 3 colors: royal blue, white & yellow. The reasoning behind that is I decided to use the team colors of whomever won the Ryder Cup and those are the European colors.

Last but not least we want to give a shout out to our friends that are getting ready to tie the knot in the next few weeks. One of my childhood buddies Kevin Milligan will be getting married to Erin Heim. Next week Cory Wiederin will be marrying Brit Klein and I get to be a part of that one. Im sure it is going to be one heck of a time. Good Luck and Congrats to the both of you.

This announcement was brought to you by the # 2 as in the # of times my name is on the DOC Trophy. #urwelcome.
