Hello, hello from everyone at the Hempstead Homestead. Decided to post an older picture of Hope & I for a change. It was taken at Fado in Atlanta, one of the greatest pubs I have ever been to. Its been a busy last two weeks. I cant get enough of this weather. Fall is definately my favorite season, wish it could be 60 degrees year round. Love playing golf during the Fall as well, Hope has noticed that the past 2 years now, sorry babe. Only have a few more weeks to get as much golf in as I can then the clubs will be put away for the winter. Its always a sad day when that happens. Speaking of sad things lets just get this over with and mention that the ISU Cyclones football team is garbage. I know in my last post I was talking them up, but there is nothing positive going for this team. Im a die hard fan and will continue to watch & cheer for them, but I dont see another victory on our schedule. Sorry boys this guy is ready for Cyclone Wrestling to start. Already got my table reserved at Dublin Bay on Thursday Nov 11th for dinner and drinks after the 1st meet. I know its going to be a rebuilding year, but Hope and I are really looking forward to attending the meets with Barbie.Big THANKS to Abby for sending us our "Emily" stickers. Love them. They would make a great tattoo, right?! We are still praying for all our family members esp. Greg, Josh, Rachel & Abby. There isnt a day I dont think about Em and Gayle. Hoping to get up North and see everyone soon.
Two weeks ago Marc's gf Ellie opened up her salon in Des Moines. Bombshell Hair Design had their doors open during Martinifest, so you know it was a great time. I made the trip down that Friday for a few hours. It was great to meet the girls Ellie works with and to hang out with Marc. A great buddy of mine, Chris Cullen, stopped out for a few drinks as well. For some reason my mom has always called Chris "Scott", now its an ongoing joke. The food and drink were outstanding and I knew it would be since Dawn (Ellie's mom) is one of the greatest cooks in all the land. Thanks again for the invite El!!! That next morning I got to take part in pouring concrete for Mr. Dentlinger. Jeff is working on remodeling his parents old hog barn into a shop where he can work on his car and store things. I have a good feeling we will be using it more for cards, drinking & story telling, but I could be wrong. The food at this event was just as good as the night before thanks to the lovely Lois Dentlinger. Dent your mom makes a mean ham sandwich & the homemade cinnamon rolls were delicious. Making big decisions as a group, more like life altering decisions. A few of my friends and I have decided to jump back on the wagon - THE "X" WAGON. Johnny 'Drama' Larson, Dane Odden, Patrick Hall and I have all tried to accomplish P90X once around and failed. The other week we decided that if we all try to it again as a group we should be able to push eachother. So far we have been committing to Tony, but have been complaining about the pain & being sore everyday. I hope that I am still doing the P90X workouts next time I post a blog. Wish me luck.
This past weekend Hope and I attending the wedding of my great friend Cory Wiederin. I was privledged enough to be a groomsmen. It was a great time. The groomsmen all meshed well, the beer might have helped with that. Below are some great pics from the night. Starting with Terry 'Denard' Wurzer drinking a Joose. For those of you that dont know my good friend Terry hates beer, always has to drink mixed drinks. They only served beer at the dinner on Friday night, so Terry picked up a Joose at the local convenience store. Looks sweet TDub.
Picture of the groomsmen at The Clipper after the ceremony.
My Justin Beiber look alike - Keagan and I tore up the dance floor all night. The kid is fearless.
A quick photo of Mr & Mrs Wiederin during dinner.
End of the night picture with Mary Wiederin - one of the greatest moms in the world. Thanks for the great party Mary. The morning after the wedding Terry and I had to get on the road early to make it back to Carroll for the 'Chili Open' at the Carroll Country Club. It was a 4man scramble event. Our team consisted of us 2 plus Nick Knute and Eric Buntenbach. We ended up shooting 57, but lost by 1 storke to the Franeys and Sinards. They supplied us chili and sandwiches for lunch and we came out $5 ahead for the day. Cant go wrong there. I am working on putting together a squad for one last tournament this year at Ames Golf & Country Club on Oct 31st.
The next 2 weeks Hope and I will be laying low. We cant wait for our first Halloween of handing out candy. Maybe I will have to pull out the NERDS costume again. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Ames for the ISU/Nebraska game in November.BH
